Juice Feast Day One
This is going to be a short post because I already feel like 10 kinds of hell.
Can't believe I'm already detoxing and it's only day one and it's not even nighttime yet.
I did eat only fruit and a salad yesterday so I might have a bit of a jump on detox.
I knew I was fading fast so I went ahead and made my dinner juice and a dessert fruit juice for later.
Juices today:
2 cups lime/ginger hot tea with my hubs while he had his AM coffee. Litre green juice (my very fav. From previous juice fast..lemon..mixed organic greens..celery..cucumber..parsley and green apple. A litre of coconut water (grocery store) A couple La Croix mineral water Home made V8 (litre) Watermelon juice 16 oz for dessert.
Went to bed at 9PM! a couple hours earlier than normal.

Starting 30 Day Juice Fast Tomorrow
I will call it a FEAST because I will drink juice any time I am hungry.
The longest I've ever made it was 6-7 days. I had such horrid emotional detox on day 6-7 (can't remember exact day) that it scared the hell out of me!! At the time I was not really aware that bad emotional detox is possible and now I'm prepared.
REASONS: I want do list these reasons for myself for the future. I'm sure this will not be easy and I will need to remind self of the problems I'm dealing with.
Of course I want to lose weight. I've wanted to lose weight for over 10 years. Mentally it has shifted for me though because now I have health issues. I'm borderline diabetic and I have hip pain and most frightening is the strange pain running down the front of my left thigh, sometimes it feels like an electrical shock and I think it's probably either nerve damage or the beginnings of neuropathy. Either way it scares the shit out of me.
The Beach.. I miss feeling comfortable in my skin when we're at the beach. I grew up in a beach town. I now hate the way my body looks so much that I totally cover myself up and I'm so uncomfortable everytime we have a beach day. I'm really really sick of that. I want to feel free and confident in the way I look.
I also have no energy. I'm a total slug. I'm depressed. I go for days and days without leaving my house (home based business) except to go to the grocery store and if I can talk my husband into going to the grocery store for me I don't have to leave it all!. It's getting worse.
I'm tired of constantly letting myself down and never keeping my self promises. I've promised myself for 10 years I'm getting this weight off. Is there anything more sad than lying to yourself over and over?
So I'm taking today to get ready, clean my fridge and kitchen and shop for lots of veggies and fruits to get me started.
"The Genius" (my hubs who actually is a genius engineer) has agreed to grocery shop for me the first 10 days or until I'm through the worst detox.

Fell Off Raw a Couple of Days
But back on track this morning.
Friday night I ate Italian.. yesterday a huge burger and onion rings... ice cream for dessert.
I know in the past when I would eat something I didn't consider health inducing I would berate myself for being so human. LOL! Stupid human.
I'm no longer going that route. I'm actually pretty happy with my transition so far. I've eaten many, many Raw meals and have made a few raw recipes I'll have to post about soon.
I need to do a better job of journaling here. I've been hanging out in Instagram. My account is Cary2.0 and I'm in love with all the Raw foodists on Instagram!
It's very inspirational and I have already found 3-4 recipe ideas I'm making soon!
I got right back on track this AM with a huge bowl of pink grapefruit and mango for breakfast. later today I'm making Raw onion wraps for the first time.
I'm trying to create something similar to the ones Leafy Greens in St. Pete makes (my favorite Raw Foods restaurant). I'll post about them here if they turn out great.
Here is a pix of my favorite sandwich at Leafy Greens using the onion wrap. It's SO GOOD: Check out my Chili Mango I'm putting in my dehydrator right now! I've been buying dried chili mango from our local Caribbean market for years. It's one of my very favorite snacks! I'm sure its not dried at low temperatures so I decided to recreate it myself. YUM! I'm using chili powder on them.

High Fat Raw
Well yesterday was an educational day. I've been eating low fat raw and some low fat cooked until now and doing progressively better little by little every day.
Yesterday for lunch I decided against my usual salad and made guacamole. I used all raw ingredients and had my raw SouthWest crackers as dippers.
I REALLY loved it obviously but 20 minutes later I wanted to go to sleep! A real eye opener as to how much energy digesting concentrated fatty foods takes!
I would like to save my concentrated foods for dinner because I was blown away by how quickly I killed my energy for the day. I was having an amazing day, working in the yard and feeling fantastic and BAM I wanted to sleep!!!
Going from high energy to ready to crash was so evident. This was a great learning experience for me!!!!.

OMG Coconut Cream
Well I REALLY overdid it yesterday with the Artisana Coconut Cream (ordered on Amazon). Can I just say yum!
That's some amazing, raw creamy goodness! I want to make up some type of walnut raisin raw bread to have it with... drool!
I had actually had Coconut Cream before and I knew it was dangerous but I am at a stage with my transition to Raw that I REALLY need heavier, more dense and fatty sometimes at night.
I do FINE all day on fruits and green juices and salads but after about 5PM it's time for something heavier. I hope that as I continue on that I will ease up on that need. I have read that it happens.
FOOD: Well I have a few recipes in the works. I am making a bok choy salad with a raw orange dressing... we will see if it's worth writing about.
Above is my dinner from a few days ago.
My SW Crackers http://highrawweightloss.blogspot.com/2010/08/so-much-to-learn.html (raw dehydrated) with tomato, avocado, vidalia onion, capers and a drizzle of balsamic. This right now is my very FAV. meal! It's amazing.
I made Summer Rolls last night and they are one of my all time favorites.
I love getting lots of raw veggies and herbs (I use basil, mint and cilantro) but I over-do the peanut butter sauce all the time.
I LOVE it and well it is the only fat in the meal *grin*. I have made it with almond butter and although it's good.. it's just not the same. I am also aware that most PB is cooked (I used the organic, natural but it's cooked)..
You can find Raw PB online but I don't use it often enough to justify an order for it, besides I know that Peanuts are not the best nut (actually a bean) for us.
Will be continuing to make these a couple times a month though!
More to come!

Spring Fever~
Well hello!
It is SO gorgeous here right now. I live in central FL and the weather at this time of year is perfection.
My quest for continuing High Raw continues. I ate all Raw yesterday and then had popcorn and a cooked vegan dinner. Lots of fruit in the house so today will be good. Need to get more greens in though. Tonight I am making sauteed carrots and fennel in coconut oil and a chicken breast for DH. I will not be eating chicken. While I am doing High Raw.. not 100%, I am not eating meat or most dairy. I have occasionally had honey and used ghee on my sweet potatoes at night and don't plan on giving either of them up. Not eating dairy or wheat has already made a huge difference in my sinus yuck I've dealt with forever so yeah!!

Kiwi!
I was excited to see Kiwi in the grocery store this morning! I've been waiting. It's one of my very favorite fruits. These are zingy little bastards. Maybe the tiniest bit under ripe but OMG YUM!!! I had 6 of them for lunch today.
